For school leavers in Australia

Leaving school in Australia? Take your work with you.

For Australian Year 12 leavers heading to university, TAFE, apprenticeship or work, and graduating university students: take your school Microsoft 365 OneDrive and OneNote before your account closes.

Region-specific notes

  • State variation: ATAR, VCE (Victoria), HSC (NSW), QCE (Queensland), WACE (WA), SACE (SA), TCE (Tasmania), NTCET (NT) — terminology differs, the M365 workflow doesn't.
  • Australian universities increasingly use class OneNote in lab-based and creative subjects; the export covers it the same way as elsewhere.
  • International students returning home benefit particularly — once an Australian university account closes, file access from overseas isn't recoverable.

Common questions

When do Year 12 school accounts close?
Most state and independent schools deactivate Year 12 accounts during the December–January summer break. The specific timing varies — some schools wait until ATAR releases, others close earlier.
What about TAFE and university?
TAFE typically follows similar timing to schools. Universities cut OneDrive at graduation; alumni email is often preserved on a downgraded license but file workloads are not.
Does the Australian Privacy Act 1988 apply?
The school remains the entity bound by the APPs; mydocs.school operates as a service provider under their direction. Our DPA addresses the cross-border data processing position — production runs in the UK; transfers operate under appropriate safeguards.
